Summary0000571: Some "zip" archive files are now classified just as "data"
DescriptionI'm the admin of the FOSS server fossies.org that uses "file" to classify software archive files itself and their member files.

With the new 5.46 release a lot of "zip" files (e.g. CinePaint-1.4.4-src.zip, dmelt-3.0.zip, wolfssl-5.7.4.zip, docear_source.zip that are all available e.g. under https://fossies.org/linux/misc) are now classified simply as

 data

while the previous "file" release 5.45 provided the more specific information

Zip archive data, at least v1.0 to extract, compression method=store

The archive pmd-dist-7.8.0-src.zip (https://github.com/pmd/pmd/releases/download/pmd_releases/7.8.0/pmd-dist-7.8.0-src.zip or https://fossies.org/linux/misc/pmd-dist-7.8.0-src.zip) is even classified as

DIY-Thermocam raw data (Lepton 2.x), scale 32089-0, spot sensor temperature 0.000000, unit celsius, color scheme 0, calibration: offset 0.000000, slope 17519795184005646647296.000000

I'm not sure but I think it is a bug.

By the way, although probably not of interest I have created a new "codespell"-report (not linked):

 https://fossies.org/linux/misc/file/codespell.html

Thanks for "file"

Jens
